Mr. Julien is just about the best baby ever. I'm sure all moms think this about their babies but really, he's SO good. Thus far he is a mellow dude, pretty easygoing and up for any adventure without too much of a fuss. Although he still detests the car. Julien is changing very rapidly every week now which just amazes me. His grasp on an object is pretty firm and he is now reaching for things that he wants. We got an "exersaucer" (this contraption that he can stand and move around in while grasping for attached trinkets) from the neighbor and he really digs it. His favorite way to be when someone is holding him is standing, balancing on is two chunky legs. He's not really into laying down or trying to sit. Every day he vocalizes more and more, making funny little burbles and Julien words. The very best development as of late is that he has learned how to laugh and mom has discovered how to make him laugh. It's not guaranteed but 90% of the time I can get him to laugh by blowing on his tummy and tickling him. It's just about the best thing ever, I bet he could make anyone smile even on their worst day.

Kimary, Julien and I took a trip to one of the U-pick farms on Sauvie Island. As it turned out peaches had just finished so we get buckets full of berries....mmm....I see some tarts in our near future. There were amazing flowers and a plethora of veggies and fruits to harvest, depending on the time of year. I can't wait to take Daniel there sometime. Jasmine mentioned he looks like a cabbage patch kid here, I do see the resemblance, although, there is not a signature on his tush (thankfully), how weird would that be?

Daniel said it looks like Julien is wearing a Sombrero, so this picture is a shout out to all the Texans. Julien did quite well with his first time in the hiking backpack, he seemed to like it. Thank goodness he does because it's much easier on mom than the front pack now that he weighs 16 pounds!

Another first! Kimary, Jasmine, Julien and I met at the Radio Room for happy hour and Julien got plenty of attention.

Super excited about Jasmine, or was it that she was offering him some beer.

Why, I think he'll take it.

With all the teething that's going on he has taken to chewing on everything, including his burp cloths. This is new, intentionally grabbing things and putting them in his mouth.

Wait a minute, that's not my baby...it's cousin Devon! Fourth son to Koeby and Jenny, Devon finally made his appearance on August 8th, exactly three months after Julien. We made the intimidating trip down to Ashland to meet him, this time BY CAR. Five hours each way. I was pretty afraid of the never ending car ride with a wailing baby who hates the car. But we left at the crack of dawn and Jules completely complied by sleeping most of the drive, each way!
See, best. kid. ever.

Like father like son.

UNcle DAn!

Julien getting some cherished love from Grandma Holly, such a pretty grandma you've got Julien.

Finally, Julien has learned to like to go to sleep! After a bit of a struggle between Julien and I at every nap and bedtime, everyone getting very exhausted, we decided to find a method that would make us all much happier. And we did it. Just yesterday I laid him down awake in his crib, he looked at me, smiled, cooed, turned his head and closed his eyes to sleep. *sigh*
