We can swim any day in November.

Oh my goodness little Julien, look how far we've come...

I have to admit I am so proud that we have made it six whole months and Julien is healthy and happy. He is growing so fast, and as he gets bigger the time goes faster, what a crazy phenomenon. Last week Julien and I went swimming for the first time. He LOVED it. He really enjoys the water, just like his mother.

J's newest achievement: sitting by himself. He still topples over sometimes (hence the soft surface) but he has gotten pretty good at balancing for long stretched of time, then sometimes he'll just fall completely backwards...a little nerve-wracking.

Donning his comfy pajamas for these cold November nights. Daniel calls it his "cloud" I call it his angle outfit. Grandma Holly gave it to us (him) and he absolutely loves sleeping in it.

Six months old means he can start solids! His first food was avocado. He was so fascinated by the new texture and flavor. Intrigued to say the least but I don't expect this boy to give up his love for milk any time soon.

Getting messy.

Mom prepping his first avocado.

J's first Halloween, guess what he was? Thanks for the inspirational and warm hat Grandma Lynda.

My little pumpkin.

I thought I would throw some Samba pics in here since she seems to be in the shadow of little Julien these days...we are loving our afternoon walks to the park, it's gorgeous around Portland right now.

Squirrel!

Our handsome little fellow.

5-month-old Fall festivities

On the Eights month five...a little late. Who knew that as he gets more and more active, along with fewer naps, the amount of leisure time mom has (to post blogs about him) dwindles. Julien has really taken on a distinct personality; I guess it's always been there it's just becoming more pronounced. He "babbles" all the time now, especially at 5 in the morning! I do much prefer it to the crying or fussing.

My little bambino. Snuggled up in his Moby wrap. It's finally cool enough to where I can wear him all wrapped up in that contraption. There is so much fabric I don't see how moms (or dads) could use them in the summer months! I love how cozy and easy to snuggle he is.

This is his FAVORITE way of being right now. All he wants to do is stand on those little legs. Very little interest in laying down, rolling around. He gets SO frustrated with tummy time. My big question is: does this correlate to walking and mobility? Is he going to be one of those babies that skips crawling? Ahhhh!

Awe, gramma Lynda gave him his first pumpkin hat. It's nice and big so he will most likely be able to wear it for a while. This helped in coming up with an idea for a Halloween costume :D

The hilarity of it all.

Auntie Annika came down from Seattle for a second visit with Julien and to participate in some Fall festivities with Daniel and I. Our weekend was packed full of fun adventures. First, the apple tasting at the Portland Nursery where there was a ridiculous variety of apples and pears to sample. Then to the pumpkin patch on Sauvie Island to pick out our potential jack-o-lanterns, with carving to follow.

Annika and Daniel hard at work. Mmmm, roasted pumpkin seeds.

I can hear it now..."seriously mom, I am so embarrassed."

Twins!

Check out those eyes.

It's rather interesting, I have noticed that there is one phrase that's been repeated numerous times when strangers first meet Julien, which is some version of: "he has really intense eyes". This is one of those things we'll be telling him his whole life...when you were a kid... it's really cool to start making those memories.

Oh, hide form the scary Portland hipsters Julien.

Snug as a bug in an Ergo.

I love our little munchkin so much, he has no idea!

Baseball & grandpa Stuart

This is going to be short and sweet so I can get these pictures up before the eighth!

Julien's first baseball game, at four months old. The Texas Rangers versus the Seattle Mariners. Ichiro and the Mariners were victorious.

In front of the box office at the game with good friends Raymond and Meagan.

Mom representing the Mariners (on the hat) and Julien wearing his Texas jersey.

Attempting to root for both teams...the hat was just a little big.

Oh sweetness...he could even fall asleep at a crazy-loud baseball game...poor boy was tired. Obviously he thoroughly enjoyed the ballgame.

Our first successful Johnny-Jump-up attempt. Although he didn't really "jump" per say, more like swung around a bit.

Check out the drool right above the words Johnny-jump-up!

Chewin' on the fingers.

More Julien expressions.

Tired of mom taking pictures.

Julien is the sweetest.

Grandpa Stuart came all the way from Texas to visit his grandson, three generations of Couches.

Four months old

Time again for the photo on the 8th.

Check out the snazzy little outfit from Great-grandma Inez and great-grandpa Vernon.

It's getting a little more difficult each time....I can only imagine.

What a handsome man.

No special lighting, he just radiates.

I missed putting this in the last post, so here it is. Julien took his first fishing trip in August!! He didn't catch anything but I blame it on the time of year. We took a trip to the Clackamas river, east of Portland, and had a lovely time. Julien is excited to learn from the real master fisherman, cousin Karan.

Oh my, mom (ashamedly) loves the exersaucer, but only because Julien does. My question is, why must they be so ugly?!

Happy boy.

*Notice the rare wild Cleao sighting in the background.

Wanting to touch, grab and put everything into his mouth.

So curious.

And.....

....Getting a little frustrated with mom for not letting him.

We made it to the Oregon State Fair in Salem. Daniel was enthusiastic about it having many favorable memories of the Texas State Fair growing up. Here he was making friends.

He had to get a "cornie-dog", did they name it after him? (ha!)

At the fair Daniel indulged in an eating challenge, he called it "stunt eating". He decided to pick something that seemed impossible (it might have been) but at least it wasn't deep-fried chocolate covered bacon. He got the "fried Dr. Pepper". He ate it and he DIDN'T get sick.

Little man asleep at the fair.
